Hey! I’m Phyllis,

and I want to tell you about why accounting is my passion, and how that passion will help you on your entrepreneurial journey.

I discovered my passion for bookkeeping and accounting during a high school accounting class. I struggled with math concepts up until I took this class. The accounting concepts I learned in high school gave me the real world application to show me how to actually become an asset in business.

Although I began college during my final year of high school, I received my accounting degree at 54 years old. Education was a value to me, and so education weaved itself throughout my life until I achieved the ultimate goal of a Bachelor of Business Management and Accounting degree from Eastern Oregon University.  God instilled a passion for accounting in me while I was young, and led me on an incredible journey to realize that passion. I now use my expertise to help other business owners through owning and operating my bookkeeping and payroll business.

My first introduction to business started when I was 15 years old, I began my first job as a cashier at a local fast food fish restaurant. This job was my first introduction to the business world. My early work experience provided me with a strong work ethic that has carried me through my career. Because of my strong ethic, I was promoted to Assistant Manager quickly, and I was trusted by my co-workers. Trustworthiness became a foundation in all my business dealings.

My Grandmother was a very strong Matriarch, and she demonstrated a strong, independent, and a positive, persevering attitude in life. I actually come from a big family, full of strong, hard-working women. Being a strong woman is a huge part of what has helped me succeed in business, and in life.

I got my entrepreneurial spirit from Father, who came into my life when I was about 12 years old. He was a successful commodities broker, and worked for himself for most of his life. He is the one who taught me that I can actually work for myself. My Father taught me to never be a victim to my circumstances.I owe a lot to him.

I was in the Army reserve for 15 years. Being in the military taught me work ethic, physical discipline, and mental discipline. It also taught me sacrifice. It taught me to value an experience that was bigger than myself. I knew others were counting on me to show up. It taught me to honor and appreciate people for their work. Those life lessons and experiences carried over into my profession. I take an ethical and disciplined approach to business, and I honor every one of my clients for their hard work and dedication. I will show up for you.

I began working in bookkeeping offices in 1996. That, coupled with ten years in the customer service industry, gave me the ability to build rapport and build the ability to serve others effectively. This experience also gave me technical ability where I learned computer technology and financial software both in the corporate world, and in local business. I incorporate technology knowledge and experience into my accounting services now.

With the help of God, I have overcome a great deal in my life, and have experienced so many situations that I could never have anticipated. Being able to persevere through life’s hardships gave me a passion to help people. I can do that through supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs through my passion, which is my love for people and accounting.

My goal is to help make your life easier, and I can use accounting skills and over 20 years experience in business to prevent unnecessary struggle for your business. Business ownership is an adventure that you don’t have to journey alone.

Outside of number crunching I love to sew, cook, dance, sweat it out, travel, and love on my sweet grand babies. Being a California native, the beach is my happy place, and I try to escape there as often as possible.
